What Is Webdings?
Microsoft describes Webdings as a symbol font designed in 1997 to give web designers a fast way to incorporate graphics. Its character set includes web-related images, unusual pictograms and user-interface icons.
Webdings vs Wingdings
They are separate symbol fonts with different character mappings and visual themes. Webdings leans heavily toward objects, interfaces and navigation imagery. A character displayed in Webdings should not be decoded with a Wingdings chart.
About This Portable Mapping
The table uses Unicode icon equivalents so the symbols can be displayed and copied in a modern browser. It is a practical web representation, not the Microsoft Webdings font file and not a promise of pixel-identical glyphs.
Why Webdings Can Break When Copied
Traditional Webdings text relies on the font used to draw underlying character positions. If that font is missing at the destination, the visual icon can disappear. Portable Unicode equivalents reduce that dependency but can still vary between operating systems.
