Webdings Check Mark

Looking for a check mark you can actually copy? Use a Unicode check mark for portable text, and use Webdings or Wingdings only when you specifically need the legacy symbol-font appearance.

✓Check MarkUnicode U+2713
✔Heavy Check MarkUnicode U+2714
☑Checked BoxUnicode U+2611

These are Unicode characters, so they are generally more portable than changing an ordinary letter into a symbol with a legacy font.

Is There a Webdings Check Mark?

Yes, Webdings includes check-style symbols, but a Webdings glyph and a Unicode check mark are different mechanisms. In a symbol font, an ordinary character position is drawn as an icon. If the destination does not use the same font, the underlying character can appear instead.

Webdings vs Wingdings Check Marks

Do not assume the same keyboard letter produces the same icon in Webdings, Wingdings or Wingdings 2. They are separate fonts with separate mappings. A commonly used Office shortcut is capital P in Wingdings 2 for a check mark; that is Wingdings 2, not Webdings.

Best Choice for Word and Excel

If the document needs to survive font changes, sharing or export, inserting a Unicode check mark such as ✓ or ✔ is usually safer. If you are maintaining an existing document that deliberately uses a symbol font, keep the intended font installed and verify the character after sharing.

Why a Check Mark Turns Into a Letter or Box

Legacy symbol fonts depend on font availability. When the intended font is missing or replaced, the underlying character may become visible or the application may show a box. Unicode check marks reduce that dependency, although their exact visual style can still vary.
